Starting out making tracks on a Casio at age 10, acquiring a Moog from his highschool science room and then getting his name on 12"s in the US as a remixer at age 16 – Shazam has now arrived at destroying clubs everywhere as both producer and DJ.
Known for always bringing something fresh to the table, Shazam is a producer making tracks for dancefloors rather than blogs or magazine launches. A very welcome change from the flood of Daft Banger that has overrun charts, clubs and car radios at traffic lights in recent history, he knows how to inject the right amount of bump into a track, not getting caught up in the all too prominent contest of who can bang the hardest and chop the most crooked.
His early days spent marinating in electro-funk and deep house are well translated into his current output, plush productions that manage to balance depth/substance with an abounding sense of fun. Laying sultry melodic hooks over rampant levels of bounce to come up with tracks that are, without a doubt, glowing shards of inescapable, unmissable aural pleasure. Having so far released material on Modular, Bang Gang 12 Inches and Ministry of Sound, more and more people are catching a glimpse of the gold.
Frequently causing punters lose it like a set of keys, Shazam also dips into DJ mode every now and then, not afraid to melt down a crowd with remarkable poise and impeccable selection. Having supported the Klaxons, Van She and Oh Snap as well performed on festival lineups alongside the likes of Chemical Brothers, Roger Sanchez, Laidback Luke and Datarock, he’s already got a pretty solid resume early on in the game.
